Chocó Department of Colombia Tour 1 (NUQUI Area)

Day 1: Arrival and check-in

For a more satisfying stay at Nuqui, we recommend you stay at Nuquí Ecolodge Piedra Piedra.

Day 2: Boat ride along the beaches in Nuqui

Our team will pick you up after breakfast and take you to a boat ride along the beaches in Nuqui. Make a quick stop at the Malecón Nuquí. And then back to the hotel by the end of the day. Nuqui has beautiful, unspoiled gray sand beaches. You may even spot a whale or two from June to October which is big game fishing and for surfing!

Day 3: Surfing in Playa El Amargal

Breakfast at a local restaurant. You will then hit the road and make your way down to the best surf zones at the Guachalito Beach, where surf rental and classes are readily available, Cabo Corrientes – only accessible by boat and with world-class surfing – and, situated just south of Río Nuquí, Playa Olímpica, a rugged looking-beach that simply goes on and on, just like the ocean itself.

Just remember, between the months of July and November, you may well be practicing your duck-dives, cutbacks and helicopters In the Pacific Ocean under the amused gaze of the odd humpback whale or two!

Day 4: Sightseeing at Parque Nacional Natural Utría

Breakfast at the local hotel. You will then make your way up to the Parque Nacional Natural Utría. We believe it is the first thing you should visit when you are in the Pacific. Home to rainforest, coral reefs, estuaries, mangroves and the ocean, the Park has one of the most diverse ecosystems and biodiversity in the world. However, it is also one of the most fragile ecosystems on the planet.

The park covers 54,300 hectares and consists of coral reefs with very few sandy beaches. The jungle almost reaches the seashore. In the park live Afro-American and mestizo communities and ancestral indigenous communities, such as the Embará and the Kunas.

Day 5: Scuba diving in Utría National Natural Park

Breakfast at your local hotel and restaurant. Our team will pick you up. For the keen scuba-diving enthusiast, the coastal area of the Utría National Natural Park has to be the place for you. The Pacific region boasts 16 species of coral, and here you can marvel at 11 of those, including both the beautiful branched Pocillopora and Porites corals, and a variety of molluscs, including ark clams and the eastern pacific giant conch, as well as over 180 species of fish, from the imposing whale shark right down to the tiny goby. You may even spot nearby Cuevita beach the olive ridley sea turtle nesting in the sand.

Back to the hotel at the end of the day and then our team will take you to the airport.
